Small Groups

Cathy Kreyche is the recipient of the WIW 2005 Small Groups Award

Small Groups bring writers together throughout metropolitan Washington, D.C. They allow like-minded members to come together regularly for mutual support and greater understanding of the craft and business of writing. We have groups focused on everything from comedy to creativity to writer’s block. All are offering new opportunities for participants to share experiences and learn in small, informal gatherings.

Each year, we recognize a WIW member who has helped advance this valuable program.

The 2005 recipient of our Small Groups Award is Cathy Kreyche, chair for the past two years of the PR Committee for Small Groups Camp Night. A freelance writer as well as a communications strategist for Management Concepts in Vienna, Va., Kreyche has found that her participation in Small Groups has enhanced her productivity and creativity. “Small Groups provide a framework for exchanging ideas, a safe testing ground for ideas and opportunities for tapping into the expertise and experience of others,” she said. Kreyche will receive her award at the upcoming Small Groups Camp Night, to be held Friday, July 8, at 7 p.m., at St. Columba’s Episcopal Church, 4201 Albemarle St. N.W., Washington, D.C.

The evening, free and open to non-WIW members, includes refreshments, raffles and door prizes. It’s a great opportunity to join or start a Small Group. Be sure to put it on your calendar now and bring a friend.
