Board Bios: 2007 - 2008Eugene L. Meyer, Board Member Meyer is an award-winning journalist and author with eclectic interests and a special passion for history. He has been widely published in magazines and was, for many years, a reporter and editor at the Washington Post. Meyer’s Maryland Lost and Found, first published in 1986, is in its second paperback edition. His second book, Chesapeake Country, published in 1990, is in its fifth printing. In 2006, Washington Independent Writers awarded him its top prize for reported nonfiction. His work has also been cited by, among others, the American Bar Association, National Association of Home Builders, Washington-Baltimore Newspaper Guild, Society of Professional Journalists, and the International Regional Magazine Association. He was James Thurber Journalist-in-Residence at Ohio State University and is on the board of the Freedom to Write Fund. Meyer lives in Silver Spring, Md., with his wife, Sandra, and their two sons.
