Ken Ackerman, Board Member

Ackerman, a writer and attorney in Washington, D.C., is a 25-year veteran of senior positions on Capitol Hill, in the executive branch and financial regulation. He has authored dozens of articles and four books, including his critically acclaimed biography Boss Tweed: The Rise and Fall of the Corrupt Pol who Conceived the Soul of Modern New York (2005), and his most recent book, Young J. Edgar: Hoover, the Red Scare, and the Assault on Civil Liberties (2007). When he’s not writing, Ken practices law in Washington, D.C., at Olsson, Frank and Weeda, P.C. A native of Albany, NY, and a graduate of Brown University (1973) and the Georgetown University Law Center (1976), Ken lives with his wife Karen in Falls Church, Va.
